Llys y Fran Country Park

IMPORTANT: Llys y Fran Country Park is currently awaiting re-development during 2018 therefore at this present time the park is only open for walkers, cyclists and use of the play area. There is no cycle hire and the café / visitor centre is closed. Bicycles can be hired in Haverfordwest – see below.

Llys y Fran Country Park is a fantastic day out with lots to see and do. The reservoir is surrounded by mature woodland and features views of the Preseli Hills, a 100-foot dam and the wonderful Pembrokeshire countryside.

With lots to see and do, as well as two great cycle trails, Llys y Fran Country Park is a great escape to back to nature.

Llys-y-Fran Country Park is about 10 miles north east of Haverfordwest. Follow the brown signs off the A40, B4313 or B4329.

Let’s Pedal

Family Trail – 1.5 miles / 2.4 km

The Family Trail begins at the Llys y Fran Visitors Centre and follows the eastern side of the reservoir weaving in and out of the trees close to the water’s edge.

The trail allows new and inexperienced cyclists the chance to try off-road cycling with all its lumps and bumps, twists and turns. There are lots of picnic spots to stop and admire the view of this beautiful reservoir with its myriad wildlife.

Mountain Bike Trail – 10.5km / 6.5 miles

The Mountain Bike Trail starts at the Visitors Centre and follows the 1.5 mile stretch of the family trail in the beginning.

Once you reach the first stream crossing, the route turns south through the woods along the edge of the reservoir. With some steep descents including a zig-zag with a challenging loose shale surface and several climbs, you will enjoy a challenging ride.

The final section beneath the dam has a steep climb back up to the visitors centre. A bike wash is available behind the visitors centre.
