Glentress Forest

Glentress Forest is one of the most popular mountain biking locations in Scotland, and it’s only an hour outside Edinburgh. With challenging trails for expert riders and easy routes for beginners, Glentress Forest is a fantastic day out for families with riders of all abilities.

Location

Glentress Forest is located near Peebles, south of Edinburgh.

Let’s Pedal

Glentress Forest is great for every rider. Beginners can practice in the skills area before hitting the easy (green) trail.

There are two starting points: Buzzards Nest car park for the green and blue routes; Osprey car park for red and black trails.

Each trail is clearly waymarked by colour-coding.

Green Route – 3 miles / 4.8 km

Start and finish in Buzzards Nest car park, and enjoy the fantastic views of Peebles and the Tweed Valley.

Blue Route – 9 miles / 14.5 km

Singletrack with a great climb and an even better descent. Lots and lots of fun for intermediate skilled riders.

Red Route – 10.5 miles / 16.9 km

Some fantastic single track climbs, fast descents including berms and jumps.

Black Route – 18 miles / 29 km

Get ready for an epic ride. With over 800m (2,600 ft) of long, single track climbing complete with fast and technically challenging descents in the remotest areas of the forest.
