Rutland Water

Rutland Water is one of the most popular reservoir destinations for cyclists. This mostly traffic-free circuit is around the largest man-made lake in Western Europe. With excellent facilities and refreshment stops at six locations around the water, the Rutland visitor centres each have something to interest everyone from insect and birdlife, gardens and the church.

There are three short road sections, the A606 from near Oakham to Hambleton Peninsula, and the lane to Egleton, both are quiet. The 1-mile section east of Manton is busier, but most of this is on a cycle path or cycle lane.

Rutland Water is located between Leicester and Peterborough, mid-way between Melton Mowbray, Corby and Stamford.
