Sherwood Pines

A delightful day out can be had in this beautiful woodland cared for by the Forestry Commission, and located in the East Midlands. With five different cycle trails for varying abilities, Sherwood Pines offers something for every cyclist. If you want additional activities, climb Go Ape’s Treetop trail for adults and juniors, hire a Segway, take a walking trail and don’t forget to check out the World War I trenches exhibition.

The easier trails are wide and well-cared for, offering a fun and safe ride for families and groups. As you follow the paths between the pine, oak and silver birch trees, you will discover the magic of this forest setting full of life and and challenges for everyone.

On the B6030 east of Kings Clipstone, 5 miles north-east of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

Let’s Pedal

The three main cycle trails at Sherwood Pines are coloured Green, Blue and Red. The more advanced routes are Black and Gold. A mountain bike or a more rugged hybrid is needed for each of these trails. A standard road bike is not suitable.

Green is for beginners and families. This 3-mile loop is ideal for new and younger cyclists on firm paths which some gentle climbs and descents.

The Blue route is for intermediate cyclists combining pleasure riding such as found on the Green route and some of the technical aspects of the Red route.

The Red route is for more experienced cyclists and features more technical aspects of mountain biking.

Only the most experienced riders should attempt the Black and Gold routes and these are not suitable for younger children or inexperienced riders.

Each route is clearly marked and/or can be followed on a free map available from the Visitors’ Centre.
