The Cambridge to Waterbeach cycling route is ideal for families and cyclists of all abilities to enjoy the beauty of Cambridgeshire.
Ride 8.5 miles (13.7 km) on this mostly traffic-free route following the River Cam, famous as the location of the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race every year.
There are a few short roads to navigate near Chesterton, then you may enjoy the traffic-free and idyllic riverside to Waterbeach.
The route begins at Cambridge Railway Station (CB1 2JW) and ends at Waterbeach Railway Station (CB25 9HT).
It is recommended you start in Cambridge as the cycling route to Waterbeach is mostly downhill unless you like climbs!
From the starting point of Cambridge Railway Station, follow Station Road to the end and turn right going north-west on the A1307 progressing towards Regent Street. Take the 9th right turn into Park Terrace which becomes Clarendon Street then Fair Street. Leave the roads behind as you head towards the River Cam.
There are two short roads to traverse from the River Cam at Chesterton, turn left onto Green Dragon Bridge and then right onto Water Street before rejoining the River Cam before the bus stop at Fallowfield.
